June 13, 2017 <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia that it hereby approves the execution of a new Contract for the Purchase and <br />Sale of Water with the City of Chesapeake, Virginia, which agreement will replace the <br />existing agreement in its entirety, reduce the current rate paid by Chesapeake for bulk <br />treated water from $7.125 to $6.245 per 1,000 gallons, provide for a two percent annual <br />increase in the said rate, reduce Chesapeake’s minimum annual purchase obligation from <br />the current 4 million gallons per day to 2 million gallons per day, and have a term <br />commencing on July 1, 2017 and expiring on June 30, 2047. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED <br /> that the City Manager is authorized to execute and <br />deliver the Contract for Purchase and Sale of Water containing the above-stated terms.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />17 - 250- Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Cherry offered the following nominations: <br /> <br />Community Criminal Justice Board <br />Dr. Rosalynn Sanderlin to be appointed to a term ending June 30, 2020, replacing <br />Sarah Sugars. <br /> <br />Cultural Alliance Liaison <br />Karen Burgess to be appointed to replace Tanya Street. <br /> <br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />Chris Crowder, to be appointed to a term ending October 31, 2020, replacing, Rusty <br />Long. <br /> <br />Library Board <br />Louie Gibbs to be appointed to a term ending November 30, 2019, replacing Lynn Law. <br /> <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />Scott Horne to be appointed to a term ending June 30, 2020, replacing Wilbert Allen. <br />Ashley Starling to be appointed to a term ending June 30, 2018, replacing Bernard <br />Boone. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Cherry, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to close nominations and the <br />above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />17 - 251 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Ms. Psimas spoke on the following events: <br /> <br /> <br />-Thanked City staff and volunteers for wonderful Memorial Day Parade. <br /> <br />-Sunset Thursdays during the summer from 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. <br />th <br /> <br />-30 Annual Race to Cock Island, Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17. <br /> <br />-Entertainment at Portside, Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17. <br /> <br />-Information about summer activities at the libraries in the Navigator. <br /> <br />-Friends of the Juvenile Court fund raising event, Thursday, June 29 at the <br />Women’s Club in Glenshellah. <br /> <br />17 - 252 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br /> <br /> Bernadette Hogge, Ombudsman, gave an update on items of concern presented by <br />citizens at the May 23, 2017 City Council Meeting. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
