Cherry, *William E. Moody, Jr., Dr. Mark <br />M. Whitaker, Nathan J. Clark, Lisa L. Lucas-Burke, City Manager Dr. L. Pettis Patton, City <br />Attorney Solomon H. Ashby, Jr. <br /> <br />17 - 239 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />th <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6 Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 13, 2017 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />17 - 240 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Portsmouth Public Schools Third Quarter Financial Report - Brittany Dortch, Chief <br />Financial Officer for Portsmouth Public Schools <br /> <br />-Councilman Moody asked that staff bring back information with regards to the <br />overall school age population versus the Average Daily Membership (ADM). <br /> <br />2. Freedom of Information Briefing - Vincent Jones, Deputy City Manager <br /> <br />3. Zoning Consideration Briefing - Bob Baldwin, Planning Director <br /> <br /> There was a consensus of City Council to have City Manager Patton and City Attorney <br /> <br />Ashby come back with a draft of a long term policy with regards to zoning issues as it <br />relates to possible franchise agreements with wireless communication companies. <br /> <br /> <br />. <br />4City Council Liaison Reports <br /> <br />-Councilman Moody - <br /> <br /> Informed City Council that the appointee evaluations were due and the need to <br />make appointments to boards and commissions. <br /> <br />-Councilwoman Lucas-Burke - <br /> <br /> Update on the hiring of the new executive director by the Portsmouth <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA) Board. <br /> <br /> Swanson Homes update. <br /> <br /> Cradock property update. <br /> <br /> Planning Commission update. <br /> <br />-Vice Mayor Cherry - <br /> <br /> Economic Development Authority (EDA) update. <br /> <br />-Councilman Clark - <br /> <br /> Portsmouth Parking Authority (PPA) update. <br /> <br /> Hampton Roads Regional Jail (HRRJ) update. <br /> <br />-Mayor Rowe - <br /> <br /> Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission (HRTAC) update. <br /> <br /> Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) update. <br /> <br />17 - 241 - Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 A.1 for the purpose of discussing and <br />considering prospective candidates for and appointees to boards and commissions. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
