"As you are aware, the City Council and the Portsmouth Redevel opment and Housing Authority have been supportive of the proposed renovation of the Truxtun School site and the development of a residential complex on the adjacent property. Recently, represent- atives of the developer submitted plans for both parcels to the appropriate city officials for their review. Although these plans did not meet the requirments of the applicable City Code sections, they do represent a level of detail that would appear to indicate the developer's intention to bring the project to fruition. It would be to the mutual interest iof all concerned if an extension to the closing date, as permitited in the above reference~ development agreement, were grante~. Inl granting the extension, additional time will be available for re'view and detailing Of the plan which should be beneficial for a more desirable project.
