<br />March 14, 2017 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor John L. Rowe, Jr., *William E. Moody, Jr., *Elizabeth M. Psimas, Dr. Mark M. <br />Whitaker, Nathan J. Clark, Lisa L. Lucas-Burke, City Manager Dr. L. Pettis Patton, City <br />Attorney Solomon H. Ashby, Jr. <br /> <br />17 - 122 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />th <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6 Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2017 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />17 - 123 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Mobility 4G/5G Access - Solomon Ashby, City Attorney / Daniel Jones, Director of <br />Information and Technology / James Wright, City Engineer <br /> <br />-Councilman Whitaker asked if the City presently received returns on towers <br />located on City property. <br /> <br /> City Manager Patton informed City Council she would research and provide <br />that information. <br /> <br />-Councilman Moody asked if current water towers could be used by <br />telecommunication companies. <br /> <br /> City Attorney Ashby informed City Council that he would provide a <br />comprehensive analysis of what is available and provide as much information <br />as possible from the providers so that staff can match, at best, the City’s best <br />interest as far as the City’s property, private property and the needs of the <br />provider. <br /> <br />2. Poverty Taskforce Overview - Dr. L. Patton, City Manager <br /> <br />-Councilman Whitaker asked for budget information for the taskforce. <br /> <br /> City Manager Patton informed City Council she will come back with a budget <br />for the taskforce. <br /> <br />3. City Council Liaison Reports <br /> <br />-Councilman Clark - <br /> <br /> Update on the hiring of the new Superintendent, Rolando Myers, for the <br />Hampton Roads Regional Jail (HRRJ). <br /> <br /> Update on Parking Authority. <br /> <br />-Mayor Rowe - <br /> <br /> Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission (HRTAC) <br />upcoming meeting. <br /> <br /> Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance (HRMFFA) upcoming <br />meeting. <br /> <br /> Update on Hampton Roads Transit (HRT). <br /> <br />17 - 124 - Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 A.1 of the Code of Virginia, for the <br />purpose of discussing and considering prospective candidates for and appointees to <br />boards and commissions. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Rowe <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
