February 28, 2017 - New Business - 17 - 109 - Boards and Commissions Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, that the City Council has followed the procedural requirements of Section 36-17 of the Code of Virginia by conducting a hearing earlier this evening on the question of removing certain Commissioners of the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, and at this hearing we considered Council’s February 15, 2017 letter notice to the Commissioners and the letter’s attached exhibits. In addition, at tonight’s hearing, Council gave each Commissioner under consideration for removal ample opportunity to be heard by Council and to present witnesses and documents. Having considered what the Commissioner presented to City Council during this hearing, I move that City Council remove Flossie Bridgeford as a Commissioner of the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority in as much as the documents presented and received, testimony received, and all evidence presented in large support the determination that the Commissioner has been inefficient and/or has neglected his/her duty, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Clark, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Psimas, Rowe Nays: Whitaker Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, that the City Council has followed the procedural requirements of Section 36-17 of the Code of Virginia by conducting a hearing earlier this evening on the question of removing certain Commissioners of the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, and at this hearing we considered Council’s February 15, 2017 letter notice to the Commissioners and the letter’s attached exhibits.
