January 26, 2016 <br /> <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br /> <br />Laural Armstrong to be appointed to fill a term ending June 30, 2017, replacing Terry <br /> <br />Hancock. <br /> <br />Motion by Dr. Edmonds, and seconded by Mr. Cherry to close nominations and <br />the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />16 - 30 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />A resolution adopting the City Council’s Newly Revised Vision Principles <br />for the future of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />1. Rebecca Larys, 421 Middle Street, voiced her concern with the omission of Pride of <br /> Past from Vision Principles. <br /> <br />2. Cathy Revell, 422 Crawford Street, voiced her concern with the omission of Pride of <br /> Past from Vision Principles. <br /> <br />3. Thomas Butt, 214 Glasgow Street, asked that City Council retain Pride of Past as <br /> part of the Vision Principles. <br /> <br />4. David Radcliff, 422 Crawford Street, spoke in opposition to this item. <br /> <br />5. Dr. Randolph Boothe-Pharr, 124 Parkview Avenue, voiced his concern with the <br /> omission of Pride of Past from the Vision Principles. <br /> <br />6. Barry Randall, 500 Oak Street, voiced his concern with what he believes is City <br /> Council’s concession that the City is not safe. <br /> <br />7. Tony Goodwin, 38 Linden Avenue, voiced his concern with the omission of Pride of <br /> Past from the Vision Principles. <br /> <br />8. Donna Sayegh, 3104 Garland Drive, spoke on Principles of Liberty #19. <br /> <br />9. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, suggested more community involvement <br /> in the City’s vision for the future. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Dr. Edmonds, to defer this item to the <br />February 9, 2016 City Council meeting, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />Dr. Whitaker asked for and received a consensus of City Council to have Mayor <br /> <br />Wright provide a letter to Senator Lucas asking to strike Senate Bill 702, regarding <br />the Jordan Bridge and the negative financial impact it will have on the City. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Psimas spoke on the following community engagement forums: <br /> <br /> <br />-Community Budget Engagement forum dates: <br /> <br />Saturday, January 30 at Woodrow Wilson High School from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 <br />o <br />a.m. <br /> <br />Thursday, February 4 at I. C. Norcom High School from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. <br />o <br /> <br />Saturday, February 6 at Churchland High School from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. <br />o <br /> <br /> Mayor Wright reminded citizens of the Fire and Police Chief Community Forum, <br /> <br />Saturday, January 30, 2016, 1 p.m. at I.
