C. <br />Norcom High School. <br />- <br />Thanked Interim City Manager Godfrey for his leadership. <br />- <br />Welcoming of new teachers at Woodrow Wilson High School. <br />- <br />Thanked City Council, volunteers, sponsors and citizens for the successful <br />Community Back to School Rally that took place on August 22, 2015. <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker asked if Mayor Wright would contact Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br /> <br />Housing Authority (PRHA), Economic Development Authority (EDA) and the <br />Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission (PPIC) to get information on their <br />minority contracting practices to get ideas before structuring the City’s policy. He <br />also asked if Mayor Wright could look into why EDA and PPIC continue to meet at 8 <br />am. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Psimas spoke on the following events: <br /> <br />th <br />- <br />47 Annual Seawall Arts Festival. <br />- <br />Sunday movies. <br />- <br />Friday night concerts. <br />- <br />Thursday Sunset events will continue through September. <br />- <br />Rob Thomas at nTelos on Thursday, August 27. <br /> <br /> Mayor Wright asked Interim City Manager Brannon Godfrey to thank city employee <br /> <br />Malik for his help during the Community Day Back to School Rally. <br /> <br />15 - 314 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br /> <br /> Bernadette Hogge, Ombudsman, gave an update on items of concern presented by <br />citizens at the August 11, 2015 City Council Meeting. <br /> <br />15 - 314 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1.
