May 12, 2015 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, there were present: Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Elizabeth M. Psimas, William E. Moody, Jr., Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., *Dr. Mark M. Whitaker, Interim City Manager J. Brannon Godfrey, Jr., Interim City Attorney Cheran D. Cordell. 15 - 192 - The following call for the meeting was read: th "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6 Floor Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2015 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 15 - 193 - The following item was discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Floodplain Management Ordinance Update - Meg Pittenger, Environmental Manager, Department of Neighborhood Advancement 15 - 194 - Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Dr. Whitaker, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia, for the following purpose: - Discussion of the performance of specific council appointees and board and commission member as permitted under subsection A. 1;and - Discussion of prospective business or industry or the expansion of an existing business or industry where no previous announcement has been made of the business’ and industry’s interest in expanding its facilities in the community pursuant to Section 2.2-3711 A.5. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright Nays: None Motion by Dr. Edmonds, and seconded by Dr. Whitaker, pursuant to Section 2.2- 3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members’ knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright Nays: None On motion, meeting adjourned.
