<br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, May 11, 2015, there were
<br />present:
<br />
<br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Elizabeth M. Psimas, *William E. Moody, Jr.,
<br />Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., *Danny W. Meeks, Dr. Mark M. Whitaker,
<br />Interim City Manager J. Brannon Godfrey, Jr., Interim City Attorney Cheran D. Cordell.
<br />
<br />15 - 186 - The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />
<br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council
<br />Chamber, 801 Crawford Street, 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2015 for the purpose of a
<br />Public Work Session.
<br />
<br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />
<br />By order of the Mayor."
<br />
<br />15 - 187 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session:
<br />
<br />1. Historic Preservation Commission - 647 Mount Vernon Avenue
<br />
<br /> Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Dr. Whitaker, to approve a request to
<br />replace slate roofing with architectural grade shingles at 647 Mount Vernon Avenue,
<br />and was adopted by the following vote:
<br />
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />
<br />2 Budget Discussions
<br />-
<br />Judge Johnny Morrison, Chief Judge, and Sheriff Bill Watson were present for
<br />discussions.
<br />
<br />3. Seawall Update - James Wright, City Engineer
<br />
<br />15 - 188 - Motion by Mr. Cherry, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to go into a Closed
<br />Meeting pursuant to Virginia Code 2.2-3711 for the following purpose:
<br />
<br />To discuss the performance of specific public officials, council appointees and
<br />board and commission members as permitted under subsection A.1.
<br />
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Whitaker, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />
<br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Dr. Edmonds, pursuant to Virginia Code
<br />Section 2.2-3712(D) certifying that, to the best of the Council Members’ knowledge:
<br />
<br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting
<br />requirements under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and
<br />
<br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which
<br />the Closed Meeting was convened
<br />
<br />were heard, discussed or considered in the closed meeting just concluded by the City
<br />Council.
<br />
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:

<br />Nays: None
<br />
<br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
