March 24, 1987 At a called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, March 24, 1987, there were present: Gloria O. Webb, E. G. Corprew, Jr., J. J. Herbert Simpson, George L. Hanbury, Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. Robert Gray, It~ City Manager, Absent: James W. Holley, III, Jack P. Barnes, L. Louise Lucas Vice Mayor Webb presided in the absence~of the Mayor. 87-98 - The following call for the meeting was read: ~ "Please attend a called meeting of ~he City Counci~ to be!held in the Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford S~reet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 1987 for the purpose of a p~blic work session on appeals from the Commission of Architectural R~view In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an executive session. By order of the'Mayor." 87-2 - A public work session was held on the appeal of Calvin Majette, 45 Manly Street, previously acted on at the public wo[k session of February 10, 1987 and requested by City Council fori a re~earing on April 10, 1987. Mr. Majette was present and stated he had no further commlents on the property in question, and answered questions as present!ed. Ernest Freeman, City Planner, made a presentation and reclom- mended that the appeal be sent back to Commission of ArchitectUral Review-Cradock/Olde TOwne/~rUxtun for consideration of~ddi~io~al information that was received and presented to City Council. Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Gray that Mr. be allowed to proceed with the work to have same appropriatel' and the mechanical equipment to be screened, as agreed to at the meeting of February 10, 1987, and was adopted by unanimous rot (4-0). Mr. Freeman was directed to explain to the CAR-Cradock/O1 Towne/Truxtun and the Old Truxtun Civic League the decision re by the City Council. 87-99 - A public work session was held for the appeal fro Earl Stephenson regarding a decision of the Commission of Arch tural Review~Port Norfolk/Park View on February 2, 1987, house 77 Elm Avenue. Earl Stephenson and his contractor. Steve Swersky, presentation.
