<br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, August 11, 2014, there were
<br />present:
<br />*Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Paige D. Cherry, William E. Moody, Jr., Marlene
<br />W. Randall, Danny W. Meeks, Elizabeth M. Psimas, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., City
<br />Manager John L. Rowe, Jr., City Attorney George M. Willson.
<br />14 - 283 -The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6t" Floor
<br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 11, 2014 for the
<br />purpose of a Public Work Session.
<br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />By order of the Mayor."
<br />14 - 284 -Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Edmonds, to go into a Closed
<br />Meeting pursuant to Virginia Code 2.2-3711 for the following purposes:
<br />Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff pertaining to actual
<br />litigation, where such consultation or briefing in open meeting would adversely affect
<br />the City's litigating posture, as permitted under Subsection A.7.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Cherry
<br />Nays: None
<br />Councilman Meeks was absent during closed session discussion due to financial
<br />interest.
<br />Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Virginia Code
<br />Section 2.2-3712(D) certifying that, to the best of the Council Members' knowledge:
<br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting
<br />requirements under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and
<br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which
<br />the Closed Meeting was convened
<br />were heard, discussed or considered in the closed meeting just concluded by the City
<br />Council.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright
<br />Nays: None
