Vision Principles: Efficient, Responsive Government. <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />• The Portsmouth Police Department will take the necessary steps to transfer the <br />police bicycles to the Town of Boykins. <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Ms. Randall, allowing the City of <br />Portsmouth Police Department to donate two used police bicycles to the town of <br />Boykins Police Department, and was adopted by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />- New Business - <br />14 - 251 -Boards and Commissions <br />There were no appointments. <br />14 - 252 -Items Submitted by Council Members <br />- Mayor Wright spoke on the following events: <br />- Congratulated City of Hampton on being named All American City. <br />- NAACP Act-So Awards. <br />- Congratulated Portsmouth Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) <br />on receiving the award for Outstanding EMS Agency and Amy Ward on receiving <br />the award for Outstanding EMS Provider at the Tidewater EMS Council 23rd <br />Annual EMS Family Picnic and Regional Awards Presentation. <br />- Ms. Psimas spoke on the following upcoming events: <br />- Caravan Stage Tall Ship Theater, 9 p.m., July 5, 6 and 7 at the end of High <br />Street. <br />- Tidewater Concert Band at the old Holiday Inn site Friday, July 4t" <br />- Mr. Moody recognized Andy Giles for his service to the City as Golf Manager. He <br />also informed citizens and City Council of the upcoming 4t" of July celebration in <br />Cradock, 9:30 a. m. - 12 p. m. <br />- Mayor Wright thanked Patrick Small, Economic Development Director, for his years <br />of service and wished him well in his new position. <br />14 - 253 -Report on Pending Items <br />• Bernadette Hogge, Ombudsman, gave an update on items of concern presented by <br />citizens at the June 10, 2014 City Council Meeting. <br />14 - 254 -Non-Agenda Speakers <br />1. Angelis Allen, 1 Harbor Court, asked that City Council establish a citizen's advisory <br />committee to work in conjunction with Parks and Recreation to develop recreational <br />programs at the Pines. <br />2. Clyde Toler, 1029 Blair Street, wanted to thank the City Manager and Staff for the <br />work they are doing in the City and also asked that Council provide tax relief for <br />veterans in the City. <br />3. Ron Jones, 2519 Portsmouth Boulevard, asked that City Council establish a citizen's <br />advisory committee to work in conjunction with Parks and Recreation to develop <br />recreational programs at the Pines. <br />4. Donna Sayegh, 3109 Garland Drive, spoke on Principle of Liberty #22. <br />
