April 27, 1987 At a special called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesda April 27, 1987, there were present: James W. Holley, III, ~acK~P~BBrne~,£'E. Gl Corpre~,[dr.~ J. Robert Gray, L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, Gloria O. Webb, Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. 87-162 The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Special Call Meeting of the City Council with Members of the School Board on Monday, April 27, 1987 at 6:30 p.m., in City Council Chambers, 6th floor of City Hall Buildi~ 801 Crawford Street, Portsmouth, Virginia for the purpose of dis- cussing matter of mutual concern. The City Council may also consider a motion to go into executive session to discuss those matters permitt~ed by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. By order of the Mayor." The following members of the School Board were present: R. Franklin Hawkins, Chairman, Ben A. Beamer, Sr., Dr. Willie Mae W. Beamon, Bradford L. Cherry, Helen Davis, Kathryn T. Gravatt, James M. Pickrell, Robert E. Spencer, Jr. Bishop Thomas E. Talley, James T. Martin, Deputy City Attorne Rev. Ben A. Beamer, Sr., offered prayer. Mayor Holley Called the meeting to order. Comments were offered by ~ice Mayor Webb, Councilmen Barnes and Corprew. Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Gray to go Executive Session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of Virginia to discuss the following: into the Code o 1. The consideration, acquisition and use of real property for public purposes as permitted under subsection (a) (2); 2. Consideration of a personnel matter as permitted under subsection (a) (1)1 3. Consultation with City Attorney and briefing by staff members pertaining to actual or potential litigation or other legal matters within the jurisdiction of the City Council as per- mitted under subsection (a) (6); 4. The disposition of publicly held property as permitted under subsection (a) (2). On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On Motion meeting adjourned. Deputy City Clerk
