116 <br />June 09, 2014 <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, June 9, 2014, there were <br />present: <br />*Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Paige D. Cherry, William E. Moody, Jr., Marlene <br />W. Randall, Elizabeth M. Psimas, *Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., *Danny W. Meeks, City <br />Manager John L. Rowe, Jr., City Attorney George M. Willson. <br />14 - 207 -The following call for the meeting was read: <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council <br />Chamber, 801 Crawford Street, 5:30 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 for the purpose of a <br />Closed Meeting. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />14 - 209 -Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to go into a Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to Virginia Code 2.2-3711 for the following purposes: <br />Discussion concerning the acquisition of real property for a public purpose in <br />the Brighton area of the City, where discussion in an open meeting would adversely <br />affect the City's bargaining position or negotiating strategy, as permitted under <br />Subsection A.3; <br />Discussion concerning the performance of specific City boards and commission <br />members and consultation with legal counsel and staff members pertaining to a legal <br />matter involving the administration of federal funds, as permitted under Subsection A.1 <br />and A.7; and <br />Interviews and discussion of candidates for appointment to City boards and <br />commissions, as permitted under Subsection A.1. <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Moody, Psimas, Randall, Cherry <br />Nays: None <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Ms. Randall, pursuant to Virginia Code <br />Section 2.2-3712(D) certifying that, to the best of the Council Members' knowledge: <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened <br />were heard, discussed or considered in the closed meeting just concluded by the City <br />Council. <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m. <br />Minutes prepared by: <br />Anita Y.
