May 27, 2014 <br />Wetlands Board <br />Brandon Griffin to be reappointed to fill a five year term ending June 30, 2019. <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Cherry, to close nominations, and <br />the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />Councilman Meeks was absent during the vote. <br />14 - 201 -Items Submitted by Council Members <br />- Mayor Wright spoke on the following events: <br />- Presentation of resolution to the family of Dr. Elizabeth Daniels by the School <br />Board. <br />- Annual report on the Tidewater Community College/Portsmouth Public School <br />First College Initiative. <br />- Annual report on the Women and Minority Owned Business program initiated by <br />the School Board. <br />14 - 202 -Report on Pending Items <br />• There were no pending items. <br />14 - 203 -Non-Agenda Speakers <br />1. Randy Bailey, 200 Maryland Avenue, asked that City Council provide tax relief for <br />disabled veterans. <br />2. Jim Windley, 443 Douglas Avenue, voiced his concern with the Hull Creek <br />development project. <br />3. Clyde Toler, 1029 Blair Street, voiced his concern with various issues in the City. <br />4. Roderick Madison, 3734 Towne Point Road, informed City Council and citizens of <br />the upcoming Mayor's Cup Blood Drive at the Hampton Roads Regional Jail on June <br />11, 2014 from 8 a. m. - 1 p. m. <br />- Mayor Wright informed citizens of additional dates for the Mayor's Cup Blood Drive: <br />- Department of Social Services, June 5, 2014 <br />- Police Training on Columbia Street, June 12, 2014 <br />- Public Works Operations Center, June 13, 2014 <br />- Fire Station on Cedar Road, June 25, 2014 <br />- City Hall, June 26, 2014 <br />5. Ruth Okoye, 1 Lantern Way, thanked City Council for the additional $6.4 million in <br />funding that was provided to the Schools. <br />6. Karen Streeter, 2003 Sawgrass Lane, thanked City Council for the additional $6.4 <br />million in funding that was provided to the Schools. <br />7. Antoinette Franklin, 2002 Lansing Avenue, spoke on the programs and services <br />provided by Behavioral Healthcare. She also inquired about restoration of voting <br />rights. <br />8. Brenda Harris, 303 Ansell Avenue, voiced her concern with increased fees at the <br />methadone clinic. <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 9:31 p.m. <br />
