February 25, 2014 <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall take effect on the date of <br />its adoption." <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />- New Business - <br />14 - 78 -Boards and Commissions <br />There were no appointments. <br />14 - 79 -Items Submitted by Council Members <br />- Mayor Wright spoke on the following events: <br />- Congratulated the girl's basketball team at Woodrow Wilson High School and the <br />boy's basketball team at I. C. Norcom High School on winning the Conference <br />Championship. <br />- Thanked citizens for coming out to Hoffler's Creek to participate in the Mayor's <br />Polar Walk. <br />- Thanked Waste Management for the 6t" Month State of the Recycling Update. <br />- Ms. Psimas spoke on the following: <br />- Portsmouth Museum's Foundation Masquerade Gala at the Children's Museum. <br />- Welcomed Deputy City Attorney Cheran Cordell. <br />- Mr. Moody spoke in the following: <br />- Thanked the Mayor for congratulating student's athletic achievements. <br />- Asked that Staff provide a check list to direct citizens of what they would need to <br />do in the case of a house fire. <br />14 - 80 -Report on Pending Items <br />There were no pending items. <br />14 - 81 -Non-Agenda Speakers <br />1. Clayton Stevens, 454 Chestnut Street, asked for help in obtaining cab permit. <br />2. Terry Danaher, 413 Dinwiddie Street, provided an update on the tolls and the <br />Farmer's Market. <br />3. Grovanni Dolmo, 975 Winward Road, Norfolk, VA, voiced his concern with what he <br />believes is discrimination by the Department of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE). <br />4. Danyelle Hanore, 3833 Magnolia Dr., voiced her concern with lack of funding for <br />athletic wear for students. <br />5. Clyde Toler, 1024 Blair Street, spoke on various issues within the City. <br />6. Kintrell Devin, 515 Water Lilly Road, provided documentation from citizens in support <br />of using the schools as a safe haven for children. <br />7. Frances Jones, 600 Yorktown Avenue, spoke in opposition to the methadone clinic. <br />8. Athena Jones, 600 Yorktown Avenue, spoke in opposition to the methadone clinic. <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m. <br />
