June 25, 2013 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, there were present: Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Paige D. Cherry, William E. Moody, Jr., Marlene W. Randall, *Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., Danny W. Meeks, City Manager John L. Rowe, Jr., City Attorney George M. Willson. 13 - 263 -The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6t" Floor Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 13 - 264 -The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Grass Maintenance of City Owned Landfill -Dennis Bagley, Director of General Services 2. Waste Disposal -Post 2018 -Dennis Bagley, Director of General Services 3. Hampton Roads Transit Billing Update -Fred Brusso, Interim Planning Director 4. End of Year Budget Transfer -Fred Brusso, Interim Planning Director /Carol Swindell, Chief Financial Officer 13 - 265 -Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Edmonds, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia, for the following purposes: (a) Consideration of the sale of publicly-held real property in the Churchland, where open meeting discussion would adversely affect negotiating strategy, as permitted under Subsection A.3; (b) Consultation with legal counsel regarding a specific legal matter requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel, as permitted under Subsection A.7; and (c) Consideration of candidates for appointment to City boards and commissions, as permitted under Subsection A.1. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Randall, Wright Nays: None Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section 2.2- 3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting just concluded.
