June 25, 2013 <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, there were <br />present: <br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Paige D. Cherry, William E. Moody, Jr., Marlene <br />W. Randall, *Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., Danny W. Meeks, City Manager John L. Rowe, <br />Jr., City Attorney George M. Willson. <br />13 - 263 -The following call for the meeting was read: <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6t" Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />13 - 264 -The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br />1. Grass Maintenance of City Owned Landfill -Dennis Bagley, Director of General <br />Services <br />2. Waste Disposal -Post 2018 -Dennis Bagley, Director of General Services <br />3. Hampton Roads Transit Billing Update -Fred Brusso, Interim Planning <br />Director <br />4. End of Year Budget Transfer -Fred Brusso, Interim Planning Director /Carol <br />Swindell, Chief Financial Officer <br />13 - 265 -Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Edmonds, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia, for the <br />following purposes: <br />(a) Consideration of the sale of publicly-held real property in the Churchland, <br />where open meeting discussion would adversely affect negotiating <br />strategy, as permitted under Subsection A.3; <br />(b) Consultation with legal counsel regarding a specific legal matter requiring <br />the provision of legal advice by such counsel, as permitted under <br />Subsection A.7; and <br />(c) Consideration of candidates for appointment to City boards and <br />commissions, as permitted under Subsection A.1. <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section 2.2- <br />3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting just concluded. <br />
