May 28, 2013 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, there were present: Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Paige D. Cherry, William E. Moody, Jr., Elizabeth M. Psimas, *Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., *Danny W. Meeks, City Manager John L. Rowe, City Attorney George M. Willson. 13 - 218 -The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6t" Floor Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 13 - 219 -The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Legislative Update -Congressman Robert "Bobby" Scott 2. Briefing on Garbage and Refuse Ordinance -Dennis Bagley, Director of General Services 3. Briefing on Sugar Hill Ownership Map -John Rowe, City Manager 13 - 220 -Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia, for the following purpose: Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff pertaining to a matter of actual litigation (Wright v. City, et al.), where such consultation or briefing in open meeting would adversely affect the litigating posture of the City, as permitted under Subsection A.7. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Wright Nays: None Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Edmonds, pursuant to Section 2.2- 3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Wright Nays: None On motion, meeting adjourned.
