March 12, 2013 <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />- Mayor Wright spoke on the following: <br />• Congratulated Ida Kay Jordan for the article in the Currents acknowledging <br />Women's History Month and 11 women who will be recognized by the Links <br />Chapter of Portsmouth for their heroic service. <br />• Congratulated Ms. Doughtie and the cheerleaders at Portsmouth Christian for <br />winning the Christian Cheerleaders of America National Cheerleading <br />Competition. <br />13 - 124 -Report on Pending Items <br />• There were no pending items. <br />13 - 125 -Non-Agenda Speakers <br />1. Senator L. Louise Lucas, P. O. Box 700, emphasized the importance of respecting <br />the office and people you serve as an elected official. <br />2. Cynthia Morrison, 1345 Court Street, spoke on the fundamental right of every <br />citizens to address elected officials. <br />3. Dr. Elizabeth Daniels, 1502 Belafonte Drive, voiced her concern with regards with <br />the City Attorney. <br />4. Marcus Sweatt, 207 Franklin Avenue, voiced his concern with having only one <br />hospital in the City. <br />5. Lee Cherry, 1108 Melvin Drive, suggested that City Council set aside a time during <br />the City Council meetings to listen to various service agencies to talk about the <br />programs they provide. <br />6. Steve Carroll, 3112 Riveredge Drive, voiced his concern with the lack of fiscal <br />responsibility shown by the School Board. <br />7. Pat Simons, 801 Mimosa Road, voiced her concern with the lack of fiscal <br />responsibility shown by the School Board. <br />8. Delores Knight, 33 Kennedy Drive, voiced her concern with the lack of fiscal <br />responsibility shown by the School Board. <br />9. Chris Evans, 192 Yorkshire Road, voiced her concern with the lack of fiscal <br />responsibility shown by the School Board. <br />10. James Bailey, 2418 Chestnut Street, asked the City to consider taking part in the <br />Ban the Box program that would eliminate the City employment application asking if <br />an applicant has a criminal past. <br />11. Corey Wells, 1116 Baskerville Lane, asked City Council to consider allowing food <br />trucks in the City. <br />12. Clyde Toler, 1029 Blair Street, asked that City Council continue to work together for <br />the citizens. <br />14. Donna Sayegh, 3104 Garland Drive, spoke on Principle of Liberty #10. <br />15. Nelson Velez, 5772 Churchland Boulevard, spoke on what he believes is a misuse <br />of funds by the School Board. <br />16. Kintrell Devin, 515 Water Lilly Road, spoke in the importance of mentorship for our <br />youth. <br />
