<br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, there
<br />were present:
<br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, William E. Moody, Jr., Marlene W. Randall, Paige D. Cherry,
<br />Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., Elizabeth M. Psimas, Danny W. Meeks.
<br />13 - 03 -The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6t" Floor
<br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, for
<br />the purpose of a Reorganization Meeting.
<br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />By order of the Mayor."
<br />13 - 04 -Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to go into Closed Meeting
<br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia for the purpose of the
<br />following:
<br />(a) Discussion of the appointment of a Vice Mayor, as permitted under
<br />subsection A.1; and
<br />(b) Discussion of appointments of Council liaisons to various boards and
<br />commissions, as permitted under subsection A.1; and
<br />(c) Discussion of the appointment of an interim City Attorney, as permitted
<br />under subsection A.1.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, pursuant to Section 2.2-
<br />3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's
<br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council:
<br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting
<br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and
<br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which
<br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in
<br />the meeting by the City Council.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />Mayor Wright called the Reorganization Meeting to order and welcomed all in
<br />attendance.
<br />13 - 06 -Election of Vice Mayor.
<br />Motion by Ms. Psimas, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to nominate Paige D.
<br />Cherry as Vice Mayor, and was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Meeks, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Wright
<br />Nays: None
