<br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, November 26, 2012, there
<br />were present:
<br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody, Jr.,
<br />Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. Heretick, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr.,
<br />Acting City Manager J. Brannon Godfrey, Jr., City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman.
<br />12 - 452 -The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor
<br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2012 for the
<br />purpose of a Public Work Session.
<br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />By order of the Mayor."
<br />12 - 453 -Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed
<br />Meeting pursuant to Virginia Code 2.2-3711 (A)(1) to discuss a possible appointment by
<br />City Council and a personnel matter involving an individual city employee or employees.
<br />The subject matter of the meeting is a possible City Council appointment and
<br />also other, unrelated personnel matters.
<br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of these
<br />personnel matters.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />Motion by Mr. Edmonds, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section
<br />2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members'
<br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council:
<br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting
<br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and
<br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which
<br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in
<br />the closed meeting just concluded by the City Council.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
