September 17, 2012 <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, September 17, 2012, there <br />were present: <br />*Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody, Jr., <br />Marlene W. Randall, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., City Manager <br />Kenneth L. Chandler, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br />12 - 376 -The following call for the meeting was read: <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held at Woodrow <br />Wilson High School, 1401 Elmhurst Lane, 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2012 for <br />the purpose of a Community Meeting. <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />The following concerns were discussed by citizens: <br />1. Communication between City Council and citizens. <br />2. Update on Elizabeth River Contract. <br />3. Update on the Virginia Port Authority. <br />4. Tolls lawsuit. <br />5. Lack of communication among Council members. <br />6. Mosquito testing. <br />7. Center for Community Development, Inc. <br />8. Assessments for foreclosed homes. <br />9. Campaign signs in median. <br />10. Improper spending of School Board funds. <br />11. Citizens questions being answered during Council Meetings. <br />12. City Council Rules of Order and Procedure. <br />13. Lack of lights coming into and going out of the Downtown tunnel. <br />14. Selling of land occupied by the new Jordan Bridge. <br />15. Naval Medical Center gate expansion. <br />16. Broken light poles and lights out in the City. <br />17. Initiatives in place to help with supplies and technological advances in the City. <br />18. Core Services Initiative. <br />19. Hiring of independent auditor. <br />20. Bulk pick-up schedule. <br />21. Paving schedule. <br />22. Property assessments. <br />
