September 11, 2012 <br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst adopting a resolution creating the position of City <br />Auditor. <br />There was no second to this motion. <br />- Mr. Moody asked for and received consensus from City Council to direct the City <br />Manager to look into making the Center for Community Development, Inc. our official <br />chodo. <br />12 - 371 -Report on Pending Items <br />• Bernadette Hogge, Ombudsman, gave an update on items of concern presented by <br />citizens at the August 28, 2012 City Council Meeting. <br />- Mr. Moody asked that a tornado warning be put in affect to warn citizens of <br />tornadoes or implement a reverse 9-1-1 as a warning. <br />- Vice Mayor Whitehurst asked that citizens are named during Reports on Pending <br />Items so that citizens know issues brought before City Council are being addressed. <br />12 - 372 -Non-Agenda Speakers <br />1. David Seletyn, 900 Bay Street, voiced his concern with the expansion of the Navy <br />Medical Center gate and asked that City Council help in the community's effort to <br />have the gate closed. <br />2. Cyneese Johnson, 501 Viking Street, voiced her concern with the quality of life of <br />the homeowners in her neighborhood. <br />3. Delores Knight, 33 Kennedy Drive, questioned the City Council's reasons for not <br />hiring an independent auditor. <br />4. Tony Goodwin, 38 Linden Avenue, voiced his concern with multiple issues within his <br />neighborhood and within the City. <br />5. Donna Sayegh, 3401 Garland Drive, outlined the City's role and purpose in <br />comparison to the ideals of the U. S. Constitution. <br />6. Eric Martoll, 118 Parkview Avenue, voiced his concern with the increase of traffic in <br />Parkview with the expansion of the Navy Medical Center gate. <br />7. David Dodd, 828 Pacific Avenue, apologized for disparaging comments he made <br />about the Police Chief at a previous meeting. <br />8. Angela Francis, 4141 Prindle Court, Chesapeake, asked that citizens and <br />community groups come out and support the fight against cancer. She also <br />informed citizens of the upcoming Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on <br />September 29, 2012 at Harbor Park. <br />9. Pat Simons, 801 Mimosa Road, spoke in opposition to City Council's delay in hiring <br />an independent auditor. <br />10. Steve Carroll, 3112 Riveredge Drive, spoke in opposition to the City Council's delay <br />in hiring an independent auditor. He also voiced his concern with the City Council's <br />lack of outrage with what he believes is the improper spending of $52 million by the <br />School Board. <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 9:38 p.m. <br />
