<br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, there were
<br />present:
<br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody, Jr.,
<br />Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. Heretick, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr.,
<br />City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, Senior Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson.
<br />12 - 340 -The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6t" Floor
<br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2012 for the
<br />purpose of a Public Work Session.
<br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />By order of the Mayor."
<br />12 - 341 -The following items were discussed in Public Work Session:
<br />1. Hot Topics
<br />- Bryan Foster, Director of Public Utilities -
<br />• Utility Billing and Interface
<br />- Brannon Godfrey, Deputy City Manager -
<br />• Core Services Initiative
<br />- Paul Holt, Interim Deputy City Manager -
<br />• Civic Center Site
<br />12 - 320 -Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed
<br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss:
<br />(a) A personnel matter involving a former employee, as permitted under
<br />subsection A.1; and
<br />(b) The performance of specific public officials, as permitted under subsection
<br />A.1.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />Motion by Mr. Edmonds, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section 2.2-
<br />3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members'
<br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council:
<br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting
<br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and
<br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which
<br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in
<br />the meeting by the City Council.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />On motion, meeting adjourned.
