171 <br />June 26, 2012 <br />- Mayor Wright provided an update on the following events: <br />- 250T" Anniversary Celebration of Trinity Episcopal Church <br />- House dedication for Habitat for Humanity <br />- New article in the Currents regarding school system <br />- Mr. Whitehurst provided an update on the following: <br />- Social Security Offset <br />- Mr. Moody provided an update and recognized the following: <br />- Recognized Dr. Alexandria Peck-Berger <br />- Gave update on No Tolls Fundraiser <br />- Recognized LaShawn Merritt's bid for gold at the 2012 London Olympics <br />- Asked for update on street paving schedule. <br />o Richard Hartman, Interim Deputy City Manager, provided citizens and City <br />Council with update on paving progress and process. <br />- Asked for update from Staff on the completion of the New Port Community punch <br />list. <br />- Offered condolences to the family of Scout Master Bobby Bracy. <br />- Mayor Wright recognized Richard Hartman and wished him well in his retirement. <br />12 - 267 -Report on Pending Items <br />There were no pending items. <br />12 - 268 -Non-Agenda Speakers <br />1. Etta Hankerson, 1033 College Park Boulevard, VA Beach, asked that citizens <br />consider each candidates ethics before voting for Mayor. <br />2. J. Brewer Moore, 308 Bobby Jones Drive, asked that City Council support Virginia's <br />observance of the War of 1812 Bicentennial. <br />3. Joyce Rumble, 422 County Street, voiced her concern with the lack of handicapped <br />parking near her home. <br />4. Delores Knight, 33 Kennedy Drive, voiced her concern with the Mayor's decorum. <br />5. Roger Cornett, 201 Thelmar Lane, voiced his concern with what he believes was an <br />intimidation tactic by a police officer while attending a political event. <br />6.
