1 '12 <br />April 23, 2012 <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, April 23, 2012, there were <br />present: <br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst Sr., William E. Moody, Jr., <br />Marlene W. Randall, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., City Manager <br />Kenneth L. Chandler, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br />12 - 155 -The following call for the meeting was read: <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 for the <br />purpose of a Closed Meeting. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />12 - 156 -Motion by Mr. Cherry, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to Virginia Code 2.2-3711(A)(1), to discuss appointments by City <br />Council <br />The subject matter of this meeting is to discuss the qualifications of candidates <br />for appointment to boards and commissions. <br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of candidates. <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright <br />Nays: None <br />Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section <br />2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br />2.
