<br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, there were
<br />present:
<br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., `William E. Moody, Jr.,
<br />Marlene W. Randall, *Stephen E. Heretick, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr.,
<br />City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, Senior Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson.
<br />12 - 142 -The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor
<br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012 for the
<br />purpose of a Public Work Session.
<br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />By order of the Mayor."
<br />12 - 143 -The following items were discussed in Public Work Session:
<br />1. Community Planning & Development Program Annual Action Plan -Paul Holt,
<br />Planning Director
<br />2. Financial Advisor Update -David Rose, Financial Advisor, Davenport & Co.
<br />12 - 144 -Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to go into Closed
<br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Code of Virginia, to
<br />discuss the appointments by City Council.
<br />The subject matter of the meeting is to discuss the qualifications of candidates
<br />for appointment to boards and commissions.
<br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of candidates.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section 2.2-
<br />3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council. Members'
<br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council:
<br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting
<br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and
<br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which
<br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in
<br />the meeting by the City Council.
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />On motion, meeting adjourned.
