July 29, 1987 <br /> <br /> At an emergency called meeting of the City Cnuncil held on <br />Wednesday, July 29, 1987, there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley, III, Jack P. Barnes, E. G. Corprew, <br />Jr., J. ~obert Gray, L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, <br />Gloria O. Webb, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, <br />Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />87-343 The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend an emergency called meeting of the City Council <br />to be held in the City Council/City Manager Conference Room, 6th <br />floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, <br />July 29, 1987, upon the request of Vice Mayor Gloria O. Webb, <br />Councilmembers J. Robert Gray and L. Louise Lucas to consider a <br />motion to go into an executive session for the purpose of <br />a Personnel Matter and consultation with the City Attorney pe~ <br />to Legal Matters within the jurisdiction of the City Council as <br />permitted by the Freedom of Information Act. To the extent deemed <br />appropriate, the City Council may go into public session to consider <br />matFers-r~lating.to tAose-~isc~s~ed in executiYe session. <br /> <br />By order of Vice Mayor Webb, Councilmembers Gray and Lucas." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded <br />Executive Session in accordance with <br />of Virginia to discuss the following: <br /> <br />by Mrs. Webb, to go into <br />Section 2.1-344 of the Code <br /> <br /> 1. Consideration of a personnel matter as permitted under sub <br />section (a) (1); <br /> <br /> 2. Consultation with City Attorney and briefing by staff <br />members pertaining to actual or potential litigation or other legal <br />matters within the jurisdiction of the City Council as permitted <br />under subsection (a) (6). <br /> <br /> On mo~lon was adopted by unanimous vote.
