~~ 9 2 <br />~_ March 13, 2012 <br />- New Business - <br />12 - 105 -Boards and Commissions <br />There were no appointments. <br />12 - 106 -Items Submitted by Council Members <br />- Mayor Wright congratulated the Girl Scouts for their 100th Anniversary. He informed <br />City Council and citizens that April was National Child Abuse Prevention Month. He <br />also informed everyone of a meeting with students at Tidewater Community College <br />to discuss tolls and of his visit to the Mayfair House Assistant Living. <br />12 - 107 -Report on Pending Items <br />There were no pending items. <br />12 - 108 -Non-Agenda Speakers <br />1. Robert Turner, 4313 Templar Drive, asked that City Council provide the cost of living <br />increase for retirees. <br />2. Pat Simons, 801 Mimosa Road, asked for changes in the process with regards to tax <br />relief. <br />3. Alvin Morrison, 1616 Atlanta Avenue, expressed dissatisfaction with City Officials. <br />4. Steve Carroll, 3112 Riveredge Drive, suggested that money for the Midtown Tunnel <br />Project be funded by benefits derived from Virginia Port Authority operations. <br />5. Charles Greenhood, 467 Court Street, voiced his concern with how tolls will affect <br />the region. <br />6. Tony Goodwin, 38 Linden Avenue, asked that a better quality of life be the focus <br />whether there are tolls in place or not. <br />7. Theresa Saunders-Smith, 13 Columbia Street, suggested that the City bring a <br />lawsuit against the state with regards to the issue of tolls. <br />8. Ted Strauss, 220 Webster Avenue, voiced his opposition to the tolls on the Midtown <br />and Downtown tunnels. <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m. <br />Minutes prepared by: <br />Anita .
