For planning
,oses, a five year period is shown, but we approve the funding
only for the first year. Next September a new five year plan will
presented.

The CIP is so important because it authorizes mmprovements
can permanently change the face of the City. Decisions we
concerning this document will affect the lives of our citizens
for decades to come. Therefore, it is important to seek the views
of our citizens before we adopt a CIP.

That is just what we plan to do tonight. No action will be
taken at this time. After listening to any speakers, the Planning
Commission will consider the CIP at its next regular meeting Qn
~ctober 6. At that time they will make a recommendation to the
Council. The Council is scheduled to act on the CIP on
October 13."

J. Many construction projects,
obviously, have implications for land use and they should be review~
in that perspective. Furthermore, the CIP is one of the means of
implementing the City's Comprehensive Plan. When the Planning
Commission formerly reviews this document, we will take these con-
siderations into account and give the Council our very best recom-
Based, primazily, upo~ land use considerations."
