Powers and duties. <br /> <br />The city council may prescribe the duties of the city auditor, may fix the <br />compensation of the city auditor, and require that the auditor shall have no other <br />employment than with the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />Sec. 7.1.03. Technical and clerical assistance. <br /> <br />The city auditor may appoint persons to perform such technical and clerical tasks <br />as necessary and advisable to effectively exercise the duties and powers authorized by <br />law, and for whom there are authorized and funded positions." <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Whitehurst, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />11 - 480 - Adoption of a motion accepting the 2012 Calendar of City Council <br />Meetings. Vision Principle: Bold New Directions. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The Portsmouth City Council normally meets on the second and fourth Tuesday <br />of each month, and the Monday prior to the second and fourth Tuesday regular <br />meeting, except during the month of December where they meet on the second <br />Tuesday and the Monday prior. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. This action would allow the City Council to give advance notification to the <br />citizens, media, and city departments of the 2012 meeting schedule. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. The City Clerk will post the 2012 Meeting Calendar on the City's webpage and <br />provide to the general public. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to accept the 2012 <br />Meeting Calendar of the City Council, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Whitehurst, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />11 - 481 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Mr. Moody offered the following nominations: <br /> <br />Americans w/Disabilities Commission <br /> <br />Darlene Mueller to be reappointed for a three year term ending December 31, 2014. <br /> <br />Economic Development Authoritv <br /> <br />Robert Beamon to be appointed to fill a four year term ending December 31, 2015, <br />replacing C. W. McCoy. <br /> <br />Lisa Lucas-Burke to be reappointed to fill a four year term ending December 31, 2015. <br />
