December 13. 2011 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, there were present: Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody, Jr., Stephen E. Heretick, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, Senior Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. 11 - 469 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2011 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 11 - 470 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Announcement of Chick-Fil-A coming to Midtown - David Tynch, Greater Portsmouth Development Group (GPDC) I Kathy Warren, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA) 2. Revenue Forecast - David Rose, Davenport & Co. I Dennis Kerns 11 - 471 - Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the possible sale of publicly held real property, as per subsection 3. The subject matter of the meeting is the former Cradock High School development site. The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of status and negotiating strategy. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Whitehurst, Wright Nays: None Motion by Mr. Cherry, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section 2.2- 3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Whitehurst, Wright Nays: None On motion, meeting adjourned.
