<br />December 13. 2011 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody, Jr., <br />Stephen E. Heretick, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., City Manager <br />Kenneth L. Chandler, Senior Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. <br /> <br />11 - 469 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2011 for <br />the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />11 - 470 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Announcement of Chick-Fil-A coming to Midtown - David Tynch, Greater Portsmouth <br />Development Group (GPDC) I Kathy Warren, Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority (PRHA) <br /> <br />2. Revenue Forecast - David Rose, Davenport & Co. I Dennis Kerns <br /> <br />11 - 471 - Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A) of the Code of Virginia, to <br />discuss or consider the possible sale of publicly held real property, as per subsection 3. <br /> <br />The subject matter of the meeting is the former Cradock High School <br />development site. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of status and <br />negotiating strategy. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Whitehurst, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Cherry, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section 2.2- <br />3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Whitehurst, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br />
