<br />028 <br /> <br />December 12.2011 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, December 12, 2011, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />*Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody, Jr., <br />Stephen E. Heretick, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., City Manager Kenneth L. <br />Chandler, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />11 - 463 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2011 for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />11 - 464 - Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to Virginia Code 2.2-3711 (A), to discuss appointments to boards and commissions, as <br />per subsection 1, and also legal matters requiring the advice of legal counsel, as per subsection <br />7. <br /> <br />The subjects of the meeting are discussion of candidates for possible appointment to <br />boards and commissions, and also a legal matter involving the proposed tunnel tolls. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting is to allow confidential discussion of appointments and legal <br />strategy. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Whitehurst, Wright <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, pursuant to Section 2.2-3712(0) of <br />the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by <br />the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which the <br />Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the closed <br />meeting just concluded by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Whitehurst <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br />'We~ p.fovrJ. <br /> <br />Wendy R.
