Ward for a term of three years, effective November 1, 1987, and was adopted by unanimous vote. ~ Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to close nominations and there b~in~ no further nominations~the above members were'elected to the d~signated Boards/Commissions, and was adopted by unanimous vote. 87-486~- Tyrone Hines, 946 Vermont Avenue, representing Mt. Hermon Senior Citizens, spoke concerning conditions at the Joseph E, Parke~ Recreation Center and presented a petition requesting improvements, si~ned by'"Del~is Lewis and others": also Mr. Hines' requested that the cement area of playground be turn into a ten~is court and two additional basketball courts; inquired about transportation for the children involved in the City-wide basketball pro~ram. He agreed to use City plans for the concessio~ stand. 87~487 -~J~sse H. Overton, Jr., 82 Ericsson Street, sQoke concernin~ ~he"~a~~ of Zoning Appeals, and requested a chang~ in the City Code. (See Exhibit 87-487) Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr~ Simpson, that the matter be referred to the City Manager and legal staff and a recommendation be brought at the next council meeting of November 24, 1987, and was adopted by unanimous, vote. 87-4~8 -'Shirley Wright, 4307 South Street, spoke concerning the inspections on new construction adjacent to back of her property. the The City Manager responded to Mrs. Wright's concerns. 87-489 - James D. Lassiter, 508 Powhatan Avenue, spoke concerning the sale of alcoholic beverage at City Park Concession area and asked Council to respond to his concerns. Councilman Barnes, requested to City Manager look into the matter and the concerns be brought back to Council.
