<br />592 <br /> <br />October 11. 2011 <br /> <br />11 - 417 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />~ Mr. Heretick informed City Council and citizens of his attendance to the 236th <br />Anniversary of the United States Navy. <br /> <br />~ Mayor Wright gave an update on the following events: <br />. Breast Cancer Awareness Kickoff <br />. Dale Homes and Lincoln Park Family Community Day <br />. Participation in the reading of Llama Llama Red Pajama for the Guinness World <br />Records <br />. Parks and Recreation Walk for Hope <br />. State of the Region meeting at Old Dominion University <br /> <br />11 - 418 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />. Bernadette Hogge, Ombudsman, gave an update on items of concern presented by <br />citizens at the September 27,2011 City Council Meeting. <br /> <br />11 - 419 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Carolyn White, 4216 Coltrane Avenue, offered a plan to City Council with regards to <br />the Portsmouth Supplemental Retirement System (PSRS). <br /> <br />2. Randy Strutton, 4704 River Shore Road, wanted to clarify statements made in a <br />newspaper article regarding Paradise Creek. She also informed citizens and City <br />Council of events taking place this month at Hoffler Creek and asked everyone to <br />participate. <br /> <br />3. Orlene Mitchell, 2803 Chicago Avenue, wanted to know why the issue of the PSRS <br />offset has not been an item on the Council agenda. <br /> <br />4. Shirley Robinson, 1930 Laigh Circle, asked City Council to eliminate the Social <br />Security offset. <br /> <br />5. Joan Branch, 4001Timberland Drive, voiced her opposition to the Social Security <br />offset. <br /> <br />6. Lt. Lee Cherry, 1108 Melvin Drive, asked for help in getting city tags for a vehicle. <br />He also asked for a meeting to talk about additional Sheriff Deputies for the new <br />courthouse. <br /> <br />7. Rebecca Porter Hampton, 704 Etheridge Road, Chesapeake, spoke on truck <br />regulations for the city. She also voiced her concern with the Social Services Fuel <br />Assistance Program. <br /> <br />8. Alvin Morrison, 1616 Atlanta Avenue, voiced his concern with not being able to make <br />an appointment with City Staff. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m. <br /> <br />Mi;;?f!J- <br /> <br /> <br />Anita Y.
