547 December 21~ 1987 At a special meeting of the City Council held on Monday, lecember 21, 1987, at 4:30 p.m., in accordance with motion adopted at the falled meeting of December 19, 1987, there were present: Jack P. Barnes, E. G. Corprew, Jr., J. Robert Gray, L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, Gloria O. Webb, George L. Hanbury~ II, Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. The meeting was called to order by Vice Mayor Webb 87~544 - ' Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes~ to go into executive session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia to discuss the following: 1. Consideration of a personnel matter as permitted under ~ubsection (a) (1); 2. Consultation with City Attorney pertaining to actual or potential litigation or other legal mathers within the jurisdiction of the City Council as permitted under subsection (a) (6) On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Council reconvened in public session at 5:10 p.m. The Vice Mayor called for nominations for >~ayor. Councilman Simpson nominaned Gloria O. Webb. Councilperson Lucas nominated L. Louise Lucas. Votes as recorded for Vice bfayor Webb: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Simpson, Webb Votes as recorded for Councilperson Lucas: Lucas Vice Mayor Webb ~,~s elecned Mayor Mayor Webb called for nominations for Vice Mayor. Councilman Barnes nominated J. Robern Gray. Councilperson Lucas nominated E. G. Corprew, Jr. Councilman Corprew declined. Votes as recorded for Councilman Gray: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Simpson, Webb Votes as recorded for Councilman Corprew: Lucas Councilman Gray was elected Vice Mayor. Mayor Webb called for nominations for vacancy on Council zreated by the election of Councilwoman Webb as Mayor.
