578 <br /> <br />February 8, 1988 <br /> <br /> At_a special meeting of the City Council held on. Monday, <br />February 8, 1988, there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gloria O. Webb, J. Robert Gray, Jack P. Barnes <br />L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, George L. Hanbury, <br />II, City Manager, Steven Lieberman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />Absent: E.'G. Corprew, Jr.,. LaMar.Williams <br /> <br />88-48 The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend.a special called meeting~of.the City <br />Council~to~belheld in the City C~uneil/City'Manager's <br />Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, <br />at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 1988, to consider a motion <br />to go into an executive session for the purDose of ~onsu!tation <br />with the City Attorney on legal aspects of- the Bide-A-Wee tract <br />and discussion of personnel matters. <br /> <br /> The City Council may consider taking formal action on <br />above in Public Session at the conclusion of the Executive <br />Session. <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />By ouder of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to go into <br />an executive session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the <br />Code of Virginia to discuss the folluwing.: <br /> <br /> 12 The condition, acquisition and use of real property <br />for public purposes as permitted under subsection (a) (2); <br /> <br /> 2. Consideration of a .personnel matter as permitted under <br />subsection (a') (1); <br /> <br /> 3. Consultation with City Attorney and briefing by Staff <br />membmrs pertaining to, actual or potential litigation or. o~ther <br />legal matters~within~the jurisdiction of th~ City C@uncil as ~ <br />permitted under subsection (a) (6); <br /> <br /> 4. The disposition of publicity held property as <br />permitted under subsection (a) (2); <br /> <br /> 5. Consideration of appointments by the City Council as <br />permitted under subsection (a) (1). <br /> <br /> City CoUncil reconvene in public session at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br /> The following citizens spoke concerning the Bide-A-Wee <br />property: <br /> <br /> Reverend Chester Moody, 283 Choate Street. <br /> Littleton Southall, 931 Vermont Avenue, representing <br />Central Civic Forum. <br /> Helen Hampton Jones, 1006 Robinson Road, representing <br />Central Civic Forum. <br /> Vernon C. Crump, Jr., 2501 Oak Street, representing <br />Central Civic Forum. <br /> Raleigh G. Harshley, 2124 Peach Street, representing Civic <br />Action Committee of Central Civic Forum. <br /> Minister Rafid Zaidi, 944-B Lincoln Street, representing <br />Nation of Islam. <br /> <br /> <br />
