July ,I,0, 2000 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Monday, July 10, 2000, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />*Mayor James W. Holley III, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward <br />Robineft, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City <br />Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G: Timothy Qksman. <br /> <br />00 - 158 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of'the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:30 p.m., Monday, July <br />10, 2000, for the purpose of a Closed Session.' <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or <br />consider the following: <br /> <br />subsection 3, the acquisition or sale of realty for a public purpose; and <br /> <br /> subsection 4, prospective business expansion or location, and also investing <br />public funds where competition or bargaining is involved. <br /> <br /> In addition, Council will discuss the performance of specific public officers, <br />appointees, or employees of the City, as permitted by subsection 1. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, pursuant to Section <br />2.1-344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br />Victor H.
