<br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, there were
<br />present:
<br />
<br />Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody, Jr.,
<br />Stephen E. Heretick, Paige D. Cherry, Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds, Sr., City Manager
<br />Kenneth L. Chandler, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman.
<br />
<br />11 - 229 - The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />
<br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor
<br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2011 for the
<br />purpose of a Public Work Session.
<br />
<br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />
<br />By order of the Mayor."
<br />
<br />11 - 230 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session:
<br />

<br />
<br />2. Hot Topics -
<br />Uranium Mining - Joshua Etheridge, Research Assistant, City Manager's Office
<br />Sheriff Services - Sheriff William Watson
<br />Debris Removal - Jarvis Middleton, Director of Public Works
<br />Cemetery Maintenance - G. Timothy Oskman, City Attorney
<br />Children's Museum Update - Brannon Godfrey, Deputy City Manager
<br />Cradock High Development/Recreation - Kenneth Chandler, City Manager
<br />
<br />11 - 231 - Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed
<br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A)(1) of the Code of Virginia, to
<br />discuss the performance of a specific public official or officials of the city; and also
<br />candidates for employment.
<br />
<br />The subject matter of the meeting is the performance of a city employee or
<br />employees, and also the qualifications of candidates for employment.
<br />
<br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit discussion of these matters.
<br />
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Edmonds, Heretick, Moody, Whitehurst, Wright
<br />Nays: None
<br />
<br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.2-
<br />3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members'
<br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council:
<br />
<br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting
<br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and
<br />
<br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which
<br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in
<br />the meeting by the City Council.

<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
