Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Gray, to transfer $86,900 from the Emergency Budget Contingency to the Sheriff's budget, was adopted, and bY the following vote: Ayes: Barnes, Corprew~ G~ay, Lucas, Simpson, Williams, Webb Nays: None 88-159 - A resolution was presented to changed the time for the City Manager to present the budget to the Council. On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray, the following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE SCHEDULE FOR CONSIDERATION BY THE CItY COUNCIL OF THE 1988-89 OPERATING BUDGET, THE IMPOSITION AND LEVYING OF TAXES ANDi FEES FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING REVENUE FOR THE SUPPORT QF GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS AND THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND GENERAL REVENUE SH~RING. WHEREAS, by resolution a~op~ed by the. CoUncil of~ the City of Portsmouth on January 26, 1988, a schedule :was established for consideration by the~City Council of the 1988-89 Operating Budget and the raising of r~venue fo~ the suppOrt of governmental operations; and ' WHEREAS, the schsdule established a special m~etin~ of the City Council on Tuesday, Apri~ 19, 1988, at 7:00 p. m. in the Cit~ Council C~amber for the purpose of the City Manager submitting the City uouncil the propOsedl1988-89 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS~ said meeting isito be rescheduled to be held at NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia that a special meeting of the City Council will be held on Tuesday, Aprii 19, 1988, at 4:30 p. m. in the Cit Council ~h~m~{ 6th Floor, CSty Hall, for the purpose of the Cit Manager ~u~mlt~ng to the Cit? Council the proposed 1988-89 Operating Budget. That the remainder of th~ schedule for consideration by the City Council of the 1988-89 Operating Budget, the imposition and levying of taxes and fees for!the purpose of raising revenue for the support of governmental o~erations and the public schools and general revenue sharing shalliremain in effect as established by the resolution adopted by Cit~ Council on January 26, 1988."
