July 11, 2000 <br /> <br /> (e) The applicant shall comply with all applicable codes, ordinances and <br />regulations of federal, state and local governments and shall obtain and maintain in <br />effect all necessary licenses and permits. <br /> <br /> (f) All taxes related to the subject property or the permitted operation <br />shall be paid when due. <br /> <br /> 4. REVOCATION OF PERMIT: Violation of any of the above conditions may <br />serve as grounds for revocation of the use permit by the City Council." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- City Manager's Report - <br /> <br />00 - 165 - Adoption of a resolution for the City to enter into an agreement with the <br />Hampton Roads Regional Academy of Criminal Justice to sustain and enhance the <br />quality of training of police department staff and to provide initial entry and in-service <br />training for employees. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a resolution for the City to enter into an agreement with the Hampton <br />Roads Regional Academy of Criminal Justice. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· To sustain and enhance the training quality of police department staff to more <br />effectively service the community. <br /> <br />· To provide initial entry and in-service training for police department employees. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The fee for training services provided is $54,180. This money is already identified in <br />the training budget of the Police Department. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING THE HAMPTON ROADS CRIMINAL JUSTICE <br />TRAINING ACADEMY. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter into an agreement with the <br />Cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg and the Counties of <br />James City and York to authorize amendment of the existing charter of the Hampton <br />Roads Regional Academy of Criminal Justice ("Academy"), to change the name of the <br />Academy to the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy, and to otherwise <br />continue the existence and operation of the Academy and to effectuate such other <br />changes in accordance with the provisions of Sections 15.2-1747, et seq., of the Code <br />of Virginia." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />00 - 166 - Board and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />00 - 167 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Councilman Whitehurst announced Brighton/Prentis Park/Prentis Place community <br />will hold a meeting at 9:00 a.m., July 15, 2000, at Brighton Elementary School. <br /> <br /> <br />
