March 8. 2011 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, there were present: Mayor Kenneth I. Wright, Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody, Jr., Marlene W. Randall, Paige D. Cherry, City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 11 - 97 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2011 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 11 - 98 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Summary of 2011 General Assembly Session - Sherri Neil, Senior Legislative and Management Analyst 2. Revenue Projections for FY 12 - Betty Burrell, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) 3. Hot Topics Main Library Update - Brannon Godfrey, Deputy City Manager 4. City Council Liaison Reports Mayor Wright - . Spoke on the Career and Technical Fair at Tidewater Community College (TCC). - Vice Mayor Whitehurst - . Spoke on his comments made at the Sports Club Jamboree. 11 - 81 - Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A)(1) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss the performance of specific public officials or officials of the city. The subject matter of the meeting is the performance of a city employee or employees. The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of personnel matters. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Cherry, Moody, Randall, Whitehurst, Wright Nays: None Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.2- 3712(0) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by the following vote:
