Herbert Simp~son, Geor~e.3L. Hahblrry, II, Manager, Steve Lieberman, City Attorney City *Absent: E. G. Corprew, Jr., James C. Hawks 88-304 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be held in the Council Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawfor~I%Street, at 4:00 p.rd.,~ Monday, Augu~st~8,'-t988~,~ .for the PUrUOs~ of Pa Public Work S~ss~o~. ~ ~ In addition you may ~6n~ider a ~otion-to-~go ~h~o an executive session. By order of the Mayor." 88-305 - Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Gray, to ~o into an executive session with Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the code of Virginia to discuss the following: 1. The condition, acquisition and use of real property for public purposes as permitted under subsection (1) (2); 2. Consultation with City Attorney and briefing by staff members pertaining to actual or potential litigation or other legal matters within the jurisdiction of the City Council as permitted under subsection (a) (6); 3. Consideration of appointments by the City Council as permitted under subsection Ia) (1). 88-305 (a) - Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Gray, to adjourn into a public work session ~n the Council Conference Room and was adopted by unanimous vote. ~ The following items were discussed at the Public Work Session: 1. Portsmouth Redevelopment and 2. Tax Refund Briefing 3. Human Relations Commission 4. Smoking Report Housin~ Authority 88-305 (b) - Motion of Mr. Gray a~d seconded by Mr. Hawks ~econvene into an executive session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia to discuss the following: to 1.
