88-367 - Vice Mayor Gray gave the following statement <br />concerning the Humane Society: <br /> <br /> ~ ~"In-response to the pubti'c .concerns regarding certain <br />practices of the Portsmouth Humane Society, ~I would like to a~vise <br />the public that this matter has peen and continues to be under <br />investigation by the City Administration. ~k ~u!l~report will be <br />made concerning the findings of this in~estig~tio~ ....... <br /> <br /> The investigation is being.expedited at the direction of City <br />Council and appropriate action will be taken based on the final <br />determinations." <br /> <br /> 88-368 Richard Slepin, 3125 Riveredge Drive, spoke <br />concerning the obscenity laws enforcement. <br /> <br />The following persons spoke in support of the Humane Society: <br /> <br />Robin Daugherty, 139 Mt. Vernon Ave. <br />Patricia L. Cawthorne, 5 Alabama Ave. <br />Sandra K. Richard Lovingood, 37 Afton Parkway,-made ~n <br />inquiry, to be addressed to the Superintendent of Schools. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mrs. Lucas to forward <br />Rev. Lovingood's inquiry to the School Board, and was adopted by <br />unanimous vote. ~ <br /> Rabbi Arthur Steinberg, 429 Columbia Street, spok~' conce ning <br />the Statue of Religious Freedom.
