September 27, 1988 <br /> <br /> At a called meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, <br />September 27, 1988, there were present: <br /> <br />Vice Mayor J. Robert Gray, Jack P. Barnes, <br />* E. G. Corprew, Jr., James C. Hawks, L. Louise <br />J. Herbert Simpson, George L. Hanbury, II, City <br />Manager, Steven Lieberman, City Attorney <br /> <br />Lucas <br /> <br />Absent: Mayor Gloria O. Webb <br /> <br />88-353 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the Council Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, <br />801 Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 1988, <br />for the purpose of a Public Work Session on a CAR appeal,. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Vice Mayor." <br /> <br /> A Public Work Session was held for the appeal from A. L. <br />Spires, regarding a decision of the Commission of Architectural <br />Review for Port Norfolk and Park View, denying the replacement <br />of the metal roof on the porch of 135 Mt. Vernon Avenue with <br />Fiberglas ~shingles. <br /> <br /> ~8-354 - Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, <br />to defer the matter for 30 days, and the planning staff <br />investigate alternate materials that would be acceptable <br />replacement, and was adopted unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Hawks and seconded by Mr. Barnes to go into <br />Executive Session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the <br />Code of Virginia to discuss the following: <br /> <br /> 1. Consideration, acquisition and use of real property <br />for public purposes as permitted under subsection (a) (2); <br /> <br /> 2. Consideration of a personnel matter as permitted under <br />subsection (a) (1); <br /> <br /> 3. Consultation with City Attorney and briefing by staff <br />members pertaining to actual or potential litigation or other <br />legal matters within the jurisdiction of the City Council.as <br />permitted under subsection (a) (6); <br /> <br /> 4. The disposition of publicly held property as permitted <br />under subsection _(a) (2); <br /> <br /> 5. Consideration of appointments by the City Council as <br />permitted under subsection.
