October 11, 1988 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, John H. Grimes has made application to vacate, <br />close and discontinue the hereinafter-described portion of Perry <br />Street, and it appearing that Notice of Application and Request <br />for Appointment of Viewers has been advertised as required by <br />laW. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Richard D. Ottavio, Thaddeus J. <br />Lawrence, Richard Todd, James T. Vick, and Lester B. Harrington <br />be appointed viewers and that Robert Reed and Harrison Miller, <br />be appointed alternate viewers in the event one of the preceding <br />vlewers fails to participate, said viewers to view the <br />hereinafter-described portion of such street and to report to <br />this Council in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any <br />what,.inconvenience~would result in vacatin~ and closing the <br />following: ~ <br /> <br /> Ail that certain portion of Perry Street, shown on the map <br />of Cradock, recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court <br />of the City of Chesapeake, in ~ap Book 70t pages 93-100, being <br />bounded on the west by Victory Boulevard and on the east by <br />Paradise Creek. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held October 11, 1988." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 88-389 Letter from the City Manager~recommending <br />adoption of a motion for the City Council to ~eceive as <br />information the fiscal year 1988 financial statements for the <br />Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission and the Industrial <br />Development Authority. <br /> <br /> "Enclosed for your information are the Fiscal Year 1988 <br />financial statements for the Portsmouth Port and Industrial <br />Commission and the Industrial Development Authority of the City <br />of Portsmouth as transmitted by their Executive Director. <br /> <br /> I recommend that the City Council adopt a motion to <br />receive as information these items." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to <br />accept the Fiscal Year 1988 financial statements for the <br />Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission and the Industrial <br />Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth, and adopted by <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 88-390 - Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />adoption of a motion authorizing the City Treasurer and Director <br />of Finance to refund(without interest) the following: <br /> <br />Personal Property Tax: <br /> <br />l) $ 11.38 <br />2) $ 91.48 <br />3) $ 10.36 <br />4) $ 33.65 <br />5) $ 10.19 <br />6) $ 51.25 <br />7) $ 25.58 <br /> <br />to Charles Brady <br />to Diamond Engineered Space <br />to Diversified Systems <br />to Eates Corporation <br />to Carin Fabricius Boarding House <br />to Heller Financial Inc. <br />to Living Well (South) Inc. <br /> <br /> <br />
