<br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, there were
<br />present:
<br />
<br />Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Vice Mayor Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., William E. Moody,
<br />Jr., Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psimas, Paige D. Cherry,
<br />City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman.

<br />10 - 372 - The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />
<br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor
<br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2010 for the
<br />purpose of a Public Work Session.
<br />
<br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />
<br />By order of the Mayor."
<br />
<br />1 0 - 373 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session:
<br />
<br />1. Hot Topics -
<br />Skate Park - Brannon Godfrey, Deputy City Manager
<br />Court Street Parking - Paul Holt, Deputy City Manager
<br />
<br />2. Marketing and Communications Update - Lavoris Pace, Marketing Director
<br />
<br />3. City Council Liaison Reports
<br />Councilman Stephen Heretick -
<br />. Announced Roy Cherry's retirement as Superintendent of the Hampton
<br />Roads Regional Jail.
<br />Mayor Bernard Griffin -
<br />. Complimented the Coast Guard City.
<br />
<br />10 - 374 - Motion by Ms. Psi mas, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to go into Closed
<br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 (A), subsection (1) and (3), of the
<br />Code of Virginia, to discuss appointments by City Council, the performance of elected
<br />officials and also the sale of publicly owned real estate.
<br />
<br />The subject matter of the meeting is to discuss the qualifications of candidates
<br />for appointment to boards and commissions, performance matters and also the status of
<br />a major real estate development project.
<br />
<br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit confidential discussion of these subjects.
<br />
<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />
<br />Ayes: Cherry, Heretick, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Whitehurst, Griffin
<br />Nays: None
<br />
<br />Motion by Ms. Psi mas, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, pursuant to Section 2.2-
<br />3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members'
<br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council:
<br />
<br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting
<br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and
<br />
<br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which
<br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in
<br />the meeting by the City Council.

<br />The motion was adopted by the following vote:
