Auqust 22, 2000 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, August 22, 2000, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Cameron C. Pitts, Sr., *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. 00 - 204 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City CoUncil to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By oder of the Mayor." 00 - 205 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Mosquito Report 2. Six Year Plan Update Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: The acquisition of real property for a public purpose, where discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect the City's bargaining position or negotiating strategy, as permitted under Subsection A.3. The subject*prope~-y .is in the Victory Boulevard 1-264 corridor of the City. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meetinc requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
