Crofton has estimated that this change order will be <br />the amount of appro~mately~$t5[000 ~o $16~,O00. The funding for <br />this change order is available within the Capital Improvements <br />Fund by transfer from the residual balance of other completed <br />projects~ Therefore, I am recommending that the Council authoriz~ <br />this change order to construct the fixed dock." <br /> <br />planning to have the new ferry doc~ <br />Becaus~ of the width-restriction o <br /> an <br /> <br /> On motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to <br />authorize th~ transfer of funds from the Capital Improvements Fun~ <br />to change the order and construct a fixed dock instead of a <br />floating dock, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 89-225 Mr. Barnes suggested that to save money on postage, <br />the copy of the City Manager's refund letter to Council and the <br />actual refund and accompany letter be mailed together instead of <br />in two separate mailings. <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes requested that the City Manager report back to <br />Council on the possibility of charging non-Portsmouth residents <br />for the use of any part of the boat facility at City Park. <br /> <br /> 89-226 Mr. Simpson requested that the Council discuss a <br />Task Force Breakfast and invitation for same in open session. <br />Motion of Mr. Ha~ks and seconded by Mr. Gray to defer the <br />discussion to the Public Work Session of June 13, !989, and was <br />approved by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Hawks, Lucas, Webb <br />Nays: Simpson <br /> <br /> 89-227 Mrs. Lucas requested a work session in the future <br />retirees hospitalization. <br /> <br /> 89-228 Mr. Bill Watson, 200 Gee Street, representing the <br />Highland Biltmore Civic League, spoke requesting a starting date <br />for th~ curbs & gutters project in the Highland Biltmore area <br />the Cit~ Manager. <br /> <br /> 89-229 Mr. Richard A. Markel, 221 Park Manor Road, <br />representing the Fraternal Order of Police, read a letter <br />regarding health insurance costs for police retirees. (See <br />Exhibit 89-229) <br /> <br /> 89-230 Mr. Robert M. Jones, 3925 Two Oaks Road, representin~ <br />retired police officers and citizens of Portsmouth, spoke <br />regarding police job stress, and public safety. <br /> <br /> Mr. Simpso~ and Mrs. Lucas requested that the City Manager <br />look into Mr. Jones' situation and report back to Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
