509 July 10, 1989 At a called meeting of the City Council held on July 10, 1989, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Jack P. Barnes, E. G..Corprew, Jrt, J. Robert Gray, James CA Hawks, J. Herbert Simpson, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, Steven Lieberman, City Attorney ~Absent: L. Louise Lucas 89-274 The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be held in the Council Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m., Monday, July 10, 1989, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you ~ay consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." The following was discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Joint Fire Training Presentation 2. Enhanced 9-11 (E-911) 3. Cable T.V. 89-235 - Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Simpson, to go into Executive Session in accordance with Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia to discuss the following: 1. Consideration of.the acquisition and use of real property located in the Churchland area of the City for public purposes as permitted under subsection (A) (3); 2. Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff members pertaining to litigation arising from actions taken by Board of Zoning Appeals as permitted under subsection (A) (7); thc 3. Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff members pertaining to litigation involving Virginia Electric and Power Company and the City of Portsmouth arising from the installation of underground utilities along South Street as permitted under subsection (A) (7); 4, Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions by the City Council as permitted under subsection (A) (1); 5. Consideration of a personnel matter involving City Council appointees as permitted under subsection (A) (1). *Councilwoman Lucas arrived at 4:46 p.m. The meeting re-convened at 6:50 p.m.
